Title: O Geraldinho
Year: 2016
Technique: Sand painting on canvas
Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm
Concept:
In this work, time seems suspended. Geraldinho, a figure both simple and enigmatic, inhabits a space of raw bricks where every object holds a memory: garlic hanging, meat curing, coffee boiling, a lantern casting its soft light. Seated on the stove, he gazes upward as if seeking an invisible answer, a lost thought, an intimate revelation. His gesture—between lighting a cigarette and a meditative pause—captures the banality of routine and the profound depth of existence. Geraldinho becomes more than an ordinary man: he is rural solitude, silent wisdom, and the poetry hidden in the simplest of gestures. A mystery made of silence, smoke, and sand.
